Grade 4 Scientist Case: The Liquid Materials Investigations

In this scientist case, you’ll see Dr. Linda Grisham measuring and comparing liquid volumes. She shares her ideas about some of the same dilemmas that students grapple with in the Liquid Materials section of the 4th grade Inquiry Project curriculum. Knowing how a scientist thinks about these activities will help you support your students as they learn about volume and volume measurement.

Dr. Linda Grisham is Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology Innovation and former Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Division at Massachusetts Bay Community College.

Dr. Sara Lacy is a senior scientist at TERC.
